Ex Prisoner Support

Being in prison for any period of time can bring many life challenges and difficulties both while inside prison and when being released. ECYS offers support to ex-prisoners depending on the need of each individual. ECYS is a member of the Welcome Directory which lists faith organisations throughout the UK who welcome ex-prisoners to approach them for help and support. Imam Sahib has years of experience within the prison service and is keen to help those released from prison to resettle back into society and be successful in acheiving positive goals and potentials and inparticular to develop their religious and spiritual well-being. Now that ECYS has its own premises, we can offer more valuable time and opportunity to meet with those who approach us and are in need of support.

The support we can offer ex-prisoners:
○ Training/work experience opportunities (dependent on case by case)
○ Guidance on employment and education
○ Islamic faith classes and learning
○ Advice on family issues
○ Worship facilities
○ Counselling
○ Mentoring
The support we can offer ex-prisoners:

It can be very difficult for people to find good training and employment opportunities in the UK, and this problem can become amplified for ex-offenders. Valuable training and expertise can be an essential part of working your way up the employment ladder and becoming independent and settled, which although can mean some hard work, but will be well worth the effort in the long run.

We are pleased to be able to inform you of ‘The STC Group’, which is a training and employment company based in Harold Wood, Essex, catering for young people and adults looking for further education and accredited training. Ex-offenders are also welcome to apply for their courses, and you may be able to qualify for funding to complete the training free of charge, and should contact the STC Group directly for further information and how to apply.

Support for Prisoner’s Family

Muslims currently make up over 15% of the UK’s prison population. Prison life can be stressful for prisoners, and data has shown that in 2016 there were over 40,000 incidents of self-harm in prisons and 120 self-inflicted deaths (National Audit Office). Admission to prison is not only stressful on the prisoner but also for their family members and dependents.

If you know someone in prison because of which you are suffering, you can contact ECYS for support and advice. Members of our organization have years of experience working in the prison service and we are keen to offer you support where possible. This could be advice with family relation problems, worries around the person incarcerated or understanding life in prison better.
